today is 4 years since a day we mark in history as "love lily day". josh gave me lilies on my birthday (march 11th) when we were dating. on the morning of the 14th, i woke and saw that one of the lily buds had burst open in the night into the most beautiful, glorious lily i have ever seen. i knew it would be a great day. it was one of those realllly busy days at college. i didn't see josh all day because we both had classes and he had 2 really big tests, but was suppose to meet him at 7pm after he took the 2nd test. i went to dinner with my dear friend mary martha @bajio at riverwoods. she was getting me to confess on the status of my relationship with josh. background: at this point, i love you's had been exchanged (another great tale) and josh had told me he wanted to marry me (whoa) and that blew my mind... so i told him i needed to think/pray about that kind of thing and kept the poor boy wondering which way i would sway someday... it had been a little over a month since he told me that. i had not quite admitted to myself how i truly felt about josh and the whole marriage thought still overwhelmed me. well, mary asked me about josh, and then asked, something like ' do you think you're going to marry him?' and without even thinking, i just blurted out, "i do want to marry him." my jaw must have dropped because mary looked at me and said "wow that's huge" and from there we just got giddy because we knew that i was getting married!!!! mary, do you remember this? anyway, i was just high in the sky after that... couldn't wait to see josh. i went home to get the lily because i wanted to share with him how gorgeous it was and tell him that i knew i wanted to move forward. his test took forever and he was late getting out... i was so excited to see him. the suspense was killing me. emotions are so intense and run so high during these peak moments in love stories and that's definately what was going on. it's very real and i love remembering those strong feelings. anyway. i can't remember why, but we got in his car that was parked on the street by his apartment. and i recounted the dinner with mary and what happened. he grabbed my hand and i proclaimed, "so i want to marry you and i will marry you and i know that's what i want to do 100%". josh, i still can't get over this even 4 years later, just started honking the horn over and over and was so stoked and kept saying things like "this means we'll have a family together, and serve a mission together, and see the world together, etc etc" and two people couldn't have been happier at that given moment in time. the lily sat on the dashboard of the car and the night of march 14th was named love lily night for us forever. i love reading about people's love stories because they're all different and unique, and meaningful to those 2 people. happy love lily to my hubby! so glad i'm on life's journey with you...

I remember it so well. And then we went and got you some wedding pearls at Ann Taylor right? Love you so much! So proud of you, deary. I need to meet that little boy. Andrew has been doing interviews out that way but we'll see. xo
I have never heard this story and I'm so glad you shared it today!! You guys are absolutely darling and I love you both :)
I'm such a love story goo-roo! Loved reading yours, so cute! I remember back to one summer selling and you had a "love fern" that was at Josh's apartment and he left it in the hands of Z-money to take care of it! Haha. Fun times :)
