oh boy, i'm back! the longer you're away from your blog...the harder it is to return. why is that? i really do like looking back at our past posts. for a february and march update, i'll do our birthdays. those were the highlights. i love our birthdays. probably josh's more than mine- which is saying something. celebrating my favorite person? josh turned 29 on february 24th. 29? impressive, babe. ;) we continue to stick with our "gypsy" birthday tradition. (gypies have multiple day parties or festivals for their celebrations.) we're going with partying for at least the day before, day of, and day after. it makes it all so much more big and exciting. once a year, right? josh really wanted to go to toronto for his birthday. he served his mission there and has wanted to visit since we moved this close to the canadian border. the day before his birthday we had fun, but the road trips are really where it's at! we hit red robin for the free burger and great birthday treatment they give on our way out of town...
jonah didn't want to be disturbed while slurping down ice cream sundae. in toronto, we swam in the hotel's pool and felt like a real grown up family. we picked up nelly (whom josh baptized in 2003) and she took us out to the mandrin. apparently that is a big canadian thing. delicious. we also perused the st. lawerence market, and of course, went to the top of the CN tower. which is crazy high... empire state building is 89 stories up and this is 144. whoa!
it made me so very nervous when jonah was running all over the glass floor, but he loved it.
we enjoyed going to church in a ward that josh served in for 7 months. there were many that he reconnected with and we had a wonderful lunch with the kay family and sister merriam. nelly treated us like royalty as guests in her home too. on the road, we had cookies (with candles) and some lil gifts. fun trip and birthday! happy birthday to truly the greatest man i know.
this is getting long. we'll skim my birthday. my mom coming to visit for 9 days was my best birthday gift. my birthday was on a sunday, so it was a bit tricky. good thing we do gypsy style after all. :) on saturday, mom and i shopped and we all went to see the movie "the artist". if you've seen it, you'll know the pose. ;)
birthday morning my mama spoiled me with her perfect pancakes that melt in your mouth.
my amazing mo. that's her nickname...short for mom :) it was so awesome to have her here. to just have lonnnng talks and to have another lady around this house. she is and always be one of my very best friends. plus she babysat and sent josh and i out on a birthday date!!

mom and i also indulged in a little (or maybe a lot) of downton abbey and little outings around syracuse. one of the greatest though is how she dotes on my jonah. he loves his grammy! and her i-pad. mostly his grammy. mom, thanks for coming and making my birthday extra special! we love our birthdays, but now back to reality. and keeping updated on the blog... ;)
