the second day we hiked into the jungle to see some huge japanese guns left from world war two. japan occupied pohnpei at that time. so interesting to stumble upon ginormous artillery grown over with vegetation and rust. it made the world war seem so much more real that it affected even places like this island. a gorgeous (and steamy hot) hike- we are all glistening. we also really enjoyed getting to know and hiking with the other 2 missionary couples- the vincents and the lefevres.
